Advertising and Promotion
The Association of Computer Engineers and Technicians, ACET, actively promotes its Members. It does this in the knowledge that the criteria for Membership are such that Members will have evidenced a standard of competence and professionalism.
| • |
Members benefit from the Association advertising through telephone directories such as Thomson, with a circulation of more than 22 million, and BT. These advertisements and listings appear throughout the United Kingdom. |
| • |
The Association’s advertisements and website list a free phone number, and callers will be directed to Members with a specific area of expertise. This is a personalised service dealt with by Association staff, not a call centre, and offered to safeguard the public and to promote the Association’s Members. |

|
| • |
The Association also promotes Members through the medium of radio and television, explaining to the public the importance of seeking advice and help from accredited, insured professionals in the IT sector. |
| • |
Allied to the above, the Association produces and distributes a monthly newsletter. This newsletter is distributed to an informed readership including Members and is available for viewing on the Association’s website. Members will be afforded the opportunity to contribute to this newsletter. |
|
The Association is a collective voice, communicating messages to the media, industry and government.
The public needs to be warned against "IT consultants" who operate uninsured, without training or experience, often introducing themselves via un-addressed business cards showing only a mobile telephone number, and so leaving their clients with little or no recourse in the event of a problem.
